Are you using a Brother color multifunction printer and your printer doesn’t recognize your new compatible or recycled cartridge? Don’t worry, we have a solution to help you.
So if your Brother machine requires additional consumables, make sure you reset them first. So here’s how to reset your Brother TN315 MFC color cartridge.
Instruction for resetting your 315/115 Brother MFC color cartridge
- Turn off the machine.
- Unplug all USB or network cables from the rear of the unit.
- Turn the power back on.
- Make sure there are no “print jobs” waiting to be printed. If there are, please delete them.
- Before using toner, please open the main door (you will see the message “The door is open” on the LCD display).
- Press the “Clear / Back” button. On the 9970 CDW, you will see the color “black”, then immediately press the number “1”.
- Go to “Toner Reset Menu” in the main display window.
- Use the up / down “search” (or scroll) arrow keys (>) to scroll through the reset options for each printer toner cartridge (4). Code: B (or K) = black; C = cyan; M = magenta; Y yellow.
- For each of these cartridges, there is a reset option for either Low Yield (S or MST) or High Yield (H or SC) toner cartridges. Thus, most customers will use TN-115 or TN-315, which is the high yield (H or SC) version.
The next steps to follow to RESET a Brother cartridge are as follows
- Use the numeric keypad to select option #1 to reset the size. Check it (or on the 9970 CDW, select “Reset”).
- Press the “Clear / Back” button (or 1) to exit the menu (or on the 9970 CDW, press “Stop”), close the door and the problem is solved.
- Reconnect the USB or network cable.
- If this does not solve the problem, your toner may be empty (it has been removed from the sealed plastic bag) and needs to be replaced. Also, because the toner itself is light and the ink cartridge components are heavy, it is difficult to determine the fill level based on weight.
- Be sure to use only high-yield toner options. Low-yield toner is very expensive per serving. The actual toner output depends on the amount of print on the page. You may receive a fraction of the advertising offer or 40% of the price, which is based on 5% padding (multiple line types). Thus, there is no difference between an OEM and a general (or remanufactured) toner manufacturer.
